With less than 24 hours left until Apple’s September iPhone unveiling event, the anticipation and excitement amongst Apple fans across the globe couldn’t be higher.
The event is scheduled to take place tomorrow in San Francisco, California at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts and will commence promptly at 10:00 AM Pacific time (1:00 PM Eastern).
iPhone 5, iPad Mini, iPod touch and iOS 6 announcements
While there are no shortage of rumors surrounding the topics of discussion during the press conference, it’s widely assumed that Apple will unveil the sixth-generation iPhone – presumably dubbed the iPhone 5 – and further discuss the latest mobile advancements in iOS 6.
In year’s past, Apple has followed different patterns as to when they start accepting pre-orders for new iPhone generations. Last year, the iPhone 4S was available to pre-purchase for avid customers the Friday following the event.
According to a report from iMore that was posted last month, Apple will be set to take pre-orders the same day as the unveiling event, which is tomorrow, Wednesday, September 12th.
Following this morning’s earlier report about the iPhone 5 and an updated iPod touch introducing a new Panorama camera mode, iOS developer Will Strafach also Tweeted several pieces of information pertaining to the unreleased next-generation iPod touch.
Strafach believes that the new iPod touch will be equipped with the same 1,136-by-640 4-inch screen as the rumored iPhone 5. This information aligns with the leaked alleged next-generation iPod touch partsthat were first pictured earlier this year in May. Additionally, Strafach claims that the upcoming iPod touch has been internally referred to by the code name N78AP.
According to a Tweet from iOS Developer Will Strafach, the iPhone 5, as well as the refreshed iPod Touch, will introduce a new panorama camera mode.[The new iPod Touch] also has that Panoramic photo feature enabled as far as I know. I think the new iPhone does as well.
While it’s widely accepted that the iPhone 5 will be unveiled at tomorrow’s media event, there’s been recent speculation regarding whether Apple will announce a much needed update to their iPod Touch lineup – primarily because it’s thought that Apple will reserve tomorrow’s spotlight for the star of the show: the new iPhone.
Earlier today, in a brief report, 9to5Mac pointed out that T-Mobile has created placeholders on their United Kingdom site for what can only be the next-generation iPhone.
On both the standard site available to customers and the backend employee system, numerous listings have been created for a device that’s being referred to as the “iPhone X”.
In preparation for their September 12th media event, Apple has recently finished decorating the front of the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. During the event, it’s speculated that the iPhone 5 will be unveiled and a finalized (or near-finalized) version of iOS 6 will be showcased.
When looking at the image, embedded above, it appears to be an ordinary decoration with the Apple logo as the focal point. However, a closer examination reveals that it’s a possible clue as to what to except from the iPhone 5.

Today, in a new report, 9to5Mac released information they’ve received pertaining to the upcoming iPhone 5 release. According to their sources, there will be six different models of the iPhone 5 (code named the “N42″) introduced during next week’s media event.
The information suggests that Apple will release both black and white versions of 16GB, 32GB and 64GB models prices identically to the six iPhone 4S models: $199, $299, $399 under a two-year contract.
Today, Amazon held a keynote presentation to reveal the next-generation of Kindle products. A total of five new Kindle devices were announced – the Kindle Fire HD, Kindle Fire HD 8.9″, Kindle Fire HD 8.9″ 4G LTE, Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle Paperwhite 3G. With the majority of iPhone 5-related leaks and rumors pertaining to the device’s screen size, redesigned dock connector and unibody two-tone back housing, one aspect that may be important to some customers is often overlooked: NFC (near field communication).
Last month, there was a bit of controversy among certain contributing members of the blogosphere regarding a set of photos from Macotakara and whether or not they verified NFC capabilities of the upcoming iPhone. Later, The Loop (a very reputable site when it comes to verifying Apple-related rumors) reported that the iPhone 5 simply will not come equipped with the components to make NFC possible.
Over the past few weeks, iResQ (a well known repair firm) has been receiving and assembling various next-generation iPhone parts. Yesterday, the alleged iPhone 5 battery was pictured and compared to the older battery used in the iPhone 4S by iResQ.
The same site has also posted images of the supposed dock connector and flex cable assembly to be used in both the upcoming iPhone 5 and the rumored iPad Mini, as well as assembling various parts in a leaked iPhone 5 back housing.
Recently, news, rumors and leaks pertaining to the upcoming iPhone have dominated the technology news sector. However, all the leaks until this point have simply been various parts, a dock connector flex cable here, a two-tone unibody back housing there and maybe a partially assembled enclosure if we’re lucky – until now.
