New iPhone 6 and iOS 7 starts popping up in developers’ logs

Jassim January 1, 2013

Along with the new year, today brought news of one developer who found something else new in his logs. In a report from The Next Web, a developer that has contacted them has seen reports of the iPhone 6,1 identifier, a device which apparently runs iOS 7.
One developer showed us that Apple has been testing hardware relating to a new ‘iPhone6,1′ identifier, powered by a device running iOS 7, which is expected to be released by Apple in the middle part of this year.
Of all Apple’s devices, the iPhone has remained on the most constant schedule, with a summer announcement and fall release that runs like clockwork. If Apple holds true to this tradition, we would be about 7 months out from seeing Apple’s announcement of their new device.
No actual specs have been leaked from this discovery, but it is always exciting to see Apple moving forward with their product line. The log even noted that the device had an IP address that led back to Apple HQ, so there is little doubt that this report is legit.
Whether or not this new iPhone will be a 5S or a 6 is not known at this point, but the fact that this iPhone is iPhone6,1 is good news for those that are upset by Apple’s non-updates with the 3GS and 4S. Ultimately though, we’ll just have to wait for WWDC 2013 to know for sure.
