Apple now ranking as #2 phone manufacturer
jassimDecember 1, 2012In a report from comScore’s MobiLens service, Apple has just passed LG in order to become the worlds second largest phone supplier. This rank increase is accompanied with 1.5% market increase, placing Apple just under 10% behind Samsung, with 17.8% and 26.3% market shares respectively.
This news is somewhat surprising, especially considering that Apple really only sells one type of phone, where as companies like LG and Samsung have a wide array of smart and “dumb” phones. The top 5 rankings are as follows:
As you can see, Apple is gaining market share more than twice as fast as Samsung, so we could see another overtake by Apple in the next few years. Apple is still trailing behind in terms of software usage, and does not appear to be gaining on Google, the current #1.
