iOS 6.1 Untethered Jailbreak Info and GM Release Date Rumored For Next Week
jassim ahmedJanuary 11, 2013iOS 6.1 has been in development for quite a while and its seems like Apple will be realeasing it shortly. As of now, the fourth beta is available to developers and the Gold Master (The version produced right before the release) is rumored to be released next week. With that being said the public release should be out shortly after and be an available upgrade from any device that can run the previous iOS 6 firmware. So far, there have not been many major changes at all the in betas as the upgrade is more focused on bug fixes and improvements.
As you probably remember, we reported earlier that the untethered iOS 6 jailbreak had been accomplished and one of the main reasons behind the reasoning holding the release back was the fact that the 6.1 update was around the conner. This being said, there is a big chance that the untethered jailbreak will be released on the next firmware, but that chance is not 100%. Hacker Planetbeing tweeted out that while the 6.1 is an extremely viable reason they should not forget about the other one that he left in his post on reddit. To aid future jailbreaks they want to preserve an exploit and until they have enough for both there may not be a release. This being said, it looks like Planetbeing is hard at work and we wish luck to the hacker.
Fixed some races today. Pretty annoying to patch a running kernel on multicore iOS safely, you can’t easily disable a core afaict.

.@arovik No. If Apple released 6.1 today, the first reason would still be valid. We always want at least one bug unreleased, in reserve.
