Draw Something 2 Reaches #1 In The App Store
A few days ago, Draw Something 2 was released into the App Store. The application far differs from the first version which became an immense hit a while back. If you recall to last year, Draw Something was sold to Zynga after it reached record users in 2012. After its viral phase less and less people used the application and it left the company uneasy. It is because of this that Draw Something 2 takes a new approach as more of a social network than a game itself. The core game still exists, however, its homescreen is shockingly similar to Instagram. The bar on the bottom is composed of Home, My Games, New, Gallery, and Me. The idea behind the app is that users will connect with friends and view what they draw on the feed regardless if they played with them or not. You can also search for drawings which appears to be almost identical to Instagram.
Draw Something 2 can be downloaded both free and paid similar to its predecessor. Zynga will still try to pull money out of you through various in app purchases to get new paintbrushes etc. While it looks like many people can make great creations this is about as professional as I can get.
Currently, the app is listed #1 under free, and #11 under paid. It is not unusual that a sequel to such a popular game would climb the rankings so fast, but only time will tell if it will stay there.
