Google Voice Search Now Available For iOS – Demo & Overview

JassimOctober 30, 2012

A few months back, Google submitted their for want of a better word, response, to Siri in the form of Google Voice Search for iOS. After a couple of months of deliberation is seems on Apple’s part, they finally saw fit to approve the update into their App Store, and the result is available to download right now. What is my first impression? It’s pretty good. It’s nothing too groundbreaking, apart from the speed with which it delivers the results – check out the video demonstration below to see how it performs:

Of course for me, and many other people, this update isn’t going to replace Siri. Whilst it’s helpful for certain situations such as finding the weather and general knowlege enquiries - it’s real world usage is limited in my opinion. The main reason I use siri is to set alarms, remind myself to do things and other system functions like that; which if you’re not heavily engrossed in the Google ecosystem will just never work over an application like this.
Nevertheless it’s a cool upgrade to an already free application, so go over to the App Store and download the ‘Google Search’ app if you’re interested in finding out more.
