And with the older 10W USB charger, it sometimes took quite a while for the iPad go from empty to fully charged. There were a few times, even after leaving my tablet to charge overnight, it still wasn’t at 100 percent in the morning.
While some believed that it might take a software update for the new charger to work with older devices, that doesn’t seem to be the case. On the product page at Apple’s site, the charger is listed as compatible with the iPad 2 and third-generation tablet.
If you’re not purchasing the new(er) iPad, you can still grab the adapter for $19.99 from Apple. The site is quoting shipping times of 1-3 days.
