iPhone 5S Production Allegedly Set to Begin in Early 2013

iPhone 5S Production Allegedly Set to Begin in Early 2013

Here’s a major rumor fresh out of Rumorville this morning: apparently Apple is ready to soon begin testing the production of its iPhone 5S. We’re super skeptical of the report because, while it does make sense that Apple is working on its iPhone 5 follow-up, it seems far too early that it would begin production testing. However, if Apple does maintain the iPhone 5 body, as the company did when it bumped from the 3G to the 3GS and the iPhone 4 to the iPhone 4S, then it doesn’t seem so far fetched — especially considering it might want to avoid future production slowdowns.

The Commercial Times, a newspaper cited by DigiTimes, had this to say about the early manufacturing:

Facing low yield rates in the production of iPhone 5, Apple has accelerated the certification processes for related parts and components for the iPhone 5S, the paper revealed.

Apparently volume production could begin as soon as the first quarter of next year.
