Will.i.am Announces i.am+ 14 Mega Pixel iPhone Lens

Today, Will.i.am announced a new iPhone accessory named the i.am+. The case like product makes the phone look like and act more like a camera by adding an additional lens superimposed over the regular camera on the back. The vintage version will also include a slide out physical keyboard with the goal of making typing easier.

Having a product that has not even been released dubbed ‘vintage’ is not the only failure seen so far in the i.am+. The device will cost you $488 for the high end vintage model and a still insanely high price of $317 for the regular version. Unless you feel the unnecessary urge to pimp your iPhone then I would recommend you stay away. The i.am+ will come with an companion app that will allow you to share the photos you take with a free account on the i.am web service which personally I am very skeptical about. Even worse, the i.am+ will only work for the iPhone 4 and 4S as there is no version designed for the iPhone 5. In all seriousness would anyone consider buying one of these when they are released on December 6th? Buying an iPhone for your other hand, or around 1/3 of your weight in fun dip would probably be an equally silly investment.
