An Exclusive Look at Magskin’s New Case
Last year, we showed off an interesting product named the Magskin, a magnetic material that could be applied to the back of any iDevice that gave it the ability to stick to many metals or magnetic objects. The product was nice but one of the main issues I faced, was the fact that once applied I had no option to remove the skin without ruining it. This became a problem for me especially, as I constantly am using my iPhone in many different ways. Overall the idea and functionality was enough to get a few of my friends interested whenever I connected it to the underside of a desk, handrail, or somewhere someone would think it would fall.
This year Dan, the creator of the Magskin, messaged me and asked if I was interested in trying one of his new products, the Magskin Case. A few days ago, I got two of the prototypes to try out and give my opinion. The cases I was given were crafted out of a prototype material which made them fragile and hard to work with. That being said, as far as I can tell they worked as well as the previous skin with the connivence of being able to take them on and off. A potential minimal downside I can predict from personal experience, would be the fact that it is more obvious in how it works than the skin. For instance, if you were to let it go while on a metal surface others are able to see the magnets that are connecting it. Other than those small differences it offers the same feature as the Magskin with some protection for the side of the device.
If you are interested, you can preorder a Magskin Case from Kickstarter starting at $19 if you get there fast.
